Staff Spotlight on Trevor Zelinski, Business Development Manager

Meet Trevor Zelinski, Business Development Manager at SimulStat.

Drawing on his exceptional interpersonal skills, business savvy, and creativity, Trevor secures new business with prospective and existing clients in the Biotech and Pharmaceutical industries.

He then works closely with key decision makers at those client companies to place highly-skilled team members—contractors and permanent employees—within their Biometrics groups.

Originally from Nebraska, he moved to San Diego in 2013.

“Ever since, I haven’t stopped commenting on the weather. I enjoy getting outside on any given day to run, hike, and enjoy a local IPA.” That work-life balance is one factor that helps him consistently deliver winning results for his clients.

Trevor’s ability to fulfill both candidates’ and client companies’ needs also comes from his five years of experience in staffing as a technical recruiter in the wireless and telecommunications industry.

By working closely with candidates to find new positions that align with their career goals, and working closely with hiring managers throughout the process, he’s built a track record of win-win relationships and successful teams.

“Working closely with both prospective candidates and clients positioned me to take on the challenge of bringing in new business and growing existing teams for SimulStat’s clients.”

Regarding challenges, he notes that conventions are one way he cultivates and nurtures relationships in the industry. They’re also an opportunity for clients to understand new standards and technologies that will help their teams succeed. COVID-19 has led to cancelled or rescheduled conventions due to temporary restrictions, which has posed challenges to his hands-on approach.

“A big part of Business Development is building relationships with clients and that’s often done best by meeting face-to-face and understanding what challenges they’re looking to tackle. Missing that opportunity to meet them and hear their most pressing challenges has been difficult.

“In-person conversations are a great opportunity for a niche staffing firm like SimulStat to display our value-add to prospective clients. The added bonus for me is that my job is made even more fulfilling when I get to meet the people we support. I’m looking forward to being able to meet in-person again—client meetings and conventions.”
